Enhancing Mission Readiness with Scalable Data Intelligence

A Federal Intelligence Agency required robust data solutions to operationalize captured information for real-time use in mission-critical scenarios such as vehicle maintenance and operational planning. The task involved processing large datasets, ensuring data accuracy, and integrating data from multiple applications. The agency aimed to eliminate manual inefficiencies in scheduling and configuration to enable predictive analytics and data-driven decision-making. These needs highlighted the importance of agile, clean, and validated data pipelines to support mission readiness. 

Kentro approached the challenge through: 

• Kentro implemented a resilient pipeline with event-streaming and iterative learning capabilities, enabling real-time modeling for maintenance and mission scenarios. Working closely with stakeholders, the team aligned data sources, consolidated information into a central data lake, and deployed a Data Validator to automate accuracy checks
• Kentro’s developers built a pipeline linking Modeling and Simulation tools (e.g., ACE-IOS) to the All Domain Operations Suite. We used a Mission Report (MISREP) translation service to convert data into Protobuf format, successfully integrating MISREPs into mission workflows for seamless data flow
• We developed and deployed an AI-powered application to optimize maintenance scheduling, using Python and the PuLP optimization library. With validated data as input, we reduced scheduling time from hours to minutes and leveraged predictive models to minimize unnecessary vehicle reconfigurations using historical sortie data
• Kentro used Kotlin and Java to develop the Data Auditor, verifying and standardizing datasets used in maintenance. The application enforced data quality against predefined rules and improved configuration management processes
• Kentro created 10+ high-level domain maps and multiple aggregated models to define integration points and relationships between systems. These assets supported seamless data sharing and actionable insights across the domain

Kentro delivered transformational results: 

• Assessed nearly 30 mission applications to identify data integration points, networks, and standards across the enterprise

• Enabled faster decision-making with the pipeline, which accelerated mission data integration and Continuous Improvement / Continuous Development (CI/CD) workflows 

• Migrated terabytes of vehicle and system data into the centralized data lake 

• Reduced maintenance scheduling time by 90%, while improving planning and configuration outcomes 

• Ensured 100% data accuracy 

• Supported nine out of ten applications, building the foundation for an interconnected and responsive data environment
